Saturday February 28th
The last day you can fish within 500 feet of the Lake Altoona dam. It's showtime, Nick Nik and I all got our new gear, new tackle, tackle bags, and new baits. We are going to kill the northern and walleye. We almost got lucky last week, we're sure to have some shore lunch this week.
...
Nope, not a thing, just 3 lost lures, and a tangle of old line with a mystery bait inside. But it was fun, we had to slide down the hill on our rumps like silly 4th graders but we made it, almost didn't make it back up the hill though. But after some jumping, sliding, and Sparks drinking, we made it.
Now we have to wait until fishing opener in May to fish there again, but that's ok, out of all the times we have gone there, I have caught 1 fish, a sheephead, ugly thing. But we keep going back because it's a cool spot, and I see fish caught there all of the time.
Probably won't hear from me for awhile, I may get the courage up to go back out before opener, but if the weather stays like it is, probably not.
Of course I say that now, the "itch" will get the best of me by the end of this week.
Oh I almost forgot, next Sunday is Cabela's trip day. And the day the clocks have to be rolled forward so we get another hour of daylight (and I get another hour of homework time!!).
Yeah, I'll be out before opener.
Till next time
Good fishin'
Joe
